Born in a Barnet — Le Rose

--

Every Mamma Mia dream your mother ever had about a Mediterranean meal can come true in this venue…

I dined here a fortnight ago now, and the memories have remained persistent for a reason. Great array of pizza, pasta and seafood options all for a generous price (almost nothing on the menu above £15, much of it under £10) in a beautiful setting that will give you a whole new standard in restaurant decoration. Balancing floral artistry with holiday iconography is a hard task that Le Rose executes extensively, organically and in a good light. As well as a surprisingly authentic atmosphere and very decent focaccia, the staff were highly welcoming, bringing a little touch of Italy to the northern edge of London.

I declined to order some of their mouth watering seafood selection on this occasion, prefering to try the pizza and pasta instead. Their dessert section, though limited, proved a fruitful avenue of investigation. One last little thing you should know; when the pizza section says tomato sauce is optional, they do not mean the default option.

A tiramisu from Le Rose will have your head spinning between ostentatiousness and decadence
