Pix Pintxos Bateman Street, Soho
You may not be able to get into Dorsia, but with tapas like these you won’t care
Exquisite tapas selections can often be overdone, ostentation obscuring the flavours and authenticity that bring you there in the first place. Pix Pintxos very much avoids this mistake, bringing you a comprehensive selection of Basque and Spanish flavours that form an excellent commercially available introduction to such cuisine.
The tortilla is perhaps the most novelly done standard item on their comprehensive, welcoming and amiably priced tapas menu, but very much in a way both restrained and seductively elegant. Excellent chorizo and a forgiving Manchego form another headline dish, along with several of boquerones.
All the classics are there in some form or another, along with some more elabourate and relatively exotic dishes, and with icy drinks and deluxe wines to accompany them you’ll have time to appreciate them all.
