Rosa’s Thai, All over the place

Surprisingly authentic Thai experience for your busy evenings

Rosa’s Thai Café is a popular and well-loved restaurant chain in London and branching out, that brings the vibrant flavors, with some restaurant decor culture, of Thailand to the bustling city. With multiple locations across London, rumours say Rosa’s Thai Café has gained a reputation for its authentic Thai cuisine, so I thought I’d check it out!

At Rosa’s Thai Café, as well as a heartwarming origin story (as it turns out not including a woman called Rosa) inevitably found on one of the walls somewhere, diners are treated to a menu that showcases the diverse and aromatic dishes of Thailand, though with the spice levels lowered according to their new location. Unless you ask otherwise. From the spicy and tangy flavors of Tom Yum Soup to the rich and creamy goodness of Green Curry, Rosa’s Thai Café offers a range of traditional Thai dishes. The latter particularly carries the warm, brothy and coconut flavours that make up some of my fondest childhood Thai food memories, while it’s red counterpart provides a milder but still entertaining option for those less in a spicy mood. For those in a spicy mood, a qualified associate has rated the spicy “Drunken Noodles” as “impressively spicy" and worth their hangover cure name. The Panang curry is stellar, embellished with tasteful quantities of fresh chillies and mini aubergine, with a warm and rich but peanut free red curry sauce.

Like a ying and yang

These simple curries, available in chicken, beef, prawns or tofu form the classic go-to options. However there is also a plethora of flavoursome meat-free dishes to consider. These include mushrooms, excellent pulled mushrooms, delicacy black fungus, and as much well-marinated tofu as you can wobble a chopstick at!

For those with a sweet tooth, potential desserts include brownie with Somtum sauce, “Pa Tong Ko” churros, fried banoffee roti, and of course sticky rice with mango. Drinks include a wide variety of bubble tea (including strong lemon tea acidic enough to clear all those capsaicin-burnt mouths; with properly sweet lychee boba) and “booze”, as the website menus put it. This is really a resturaunt that does diversity and doesn’t sacrifice consistency for it.

And yes, the classic spring rolls are well baked, high quality both in the rich fried pastry and succulent vegetable contents.
