Rush Hour Guides — Starbucks
You have 10 seconds to make your choice before you grab an order and run to the next tube. Read this on the way to make those seconds count.
Starting the day off with breakfast, Starbucks provides various choices. You can enjoy classic baked goods like buttery croissants, flaky pastries, or muffins, freshly baked each day. If you’re looking for something more substantial, their breakfast sandwiches are a popular choice. These may include options like bacon or sausage with egg and cheese, served on an English muffin or a bagel or even a roll with a malted finish that pairs excellently with the bacon or scrambled egg. There is also a meat-free* breakfast wrap starring spinach, smoky sausage and a hint of pesto. King of the castle however is the meat-free breakfast roll, with the most mouth meltingly subtle bake on its breakfast muffin-style roll offering a satisfying and flavourful start to the day. This excellent bread contains a beyond burger and quality coconut cheese with a well balanced salsa in their magnificent breakfast roll.
As the day progresses, Starbucks offers a selection of sandwiches and substantial paninis that are perfect for a quick lunch or a snack, as well as a potentially messy five-cheese toastie that also includes a well-balanced mustard bechamel sauce. These sandwiches are made with a variety of ingredients and flavours. You may find options such as roasted chicken and pesto, ham and Swiss cheese, or turkey club sandwiches. Panini options include cheese and tuna melts, mozzarella and tomato melts, and a herby beef, mozzarella, onion and tomato panini that does seem to melt pretty well as well. The Cheese and Tuna seems the best of these. Vegetarian choices like the roasted vegetable and grain bowl offer a wholesome and flavourful option for those with dietary preferences. For those seeking a lighter meal or a nutritious option, Starbucks provides salads (in which the chicken Caesar is also far from lacking).
If you’re in the mood for a quick snack or a sweet treat to pair with your coffee, Starbucks has you covered. Their pastry selection includes cake pops, cookies including a well mixed and really quite sweet choc-chip shortbread cookie, moist but not-too-rich croissants (they save the really buttery ones to put ham and cheese in), remarkably light and subtly flavoured Danish pastries, muffins, and seasonal specialties like pumpkin bread or gingerbread during festive periods. The chocolate twists are relatively aesthetic, bready with a significant custard flavour that is often forgotten in a chocolate twist. They don’t slack out on the flavour on the pain au chocolat dough either. If you want a healthier option, then there is a solidly build fruit toast whose texture and architecture really brings out the fruits it encases. The millionaire’s shortbread is especially good, with a superior proportion of chocolate to it’s caramel and (impressively soft) shortbread layers, as far as millionaire’s shortbreads go. The muffins are not bad either, the banana chips don’t get stuck in your teeth that much and the Chocolate S’more muffin actually manages to replicate some of the softness it’s name evokes. In addition to their food offerings, Starbucks offers a range of snacks and grab-and-go items. You’ll find fresh fruit, yogurt parfaits, protein boxes, and a selection of chips, crackers, and nuts.
To “accompany” your meal or snack, Starbucks presents, of course, their coffee. From their signature coffees and espresso-based drinks to refreshing teas, hot chocolates, and iced beverages, there is something for every taste and mood. They even have an impressive variety of juices, as pictured. You can also personalize your drink with various milk options, syrups, and toppings to create your perfect beverage.
